Summer Flare

There are times that I believe in waiting to make a purchase. Okay, I'll admit it, those times are few and far between with me - I tend to be an impulse shopper. But every once in a while I will decide to be responsible and think before I buy. I try to live by the motto of if I go home and forget about it a few days later then I obviously don't need it. I'd rather have it sit un-used at the store than un-touched in my closet.

This Stella & Dot - Dot Bloom Necklace is a piece that I waited to buy. It was actually one of the pieces that I originally hosted a trunk show for in order to get it for free. But the night of my trunk show, I became a stylist instead. And with all of these new pieces to buy, I just couldn't justify the splurge on my original wish list. So, when I saw a few weeks ago that this beauty was retiring, I knew I couldn't wait any longer. The fact that it was now on sale didn't hurt either. This is one purchase I am glad I made - and now I almost appreciate it more because I really wanted it when I got it.

I also just love this look for spring/summer - especially paired with a pink lip!

Are there any special pieces in your wardrobe that you waited on?

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day y'all!

While I wish I could tell you all about my exciting Memorial Day weekend, I spent most of it inside organizing my apartment and studying for a marketing exam. Maymester is a serious buzz kill. But when I did leave finally leave the house today to spend some time by the pool, I tried to add a little patriotic feel to my look. Nothing says America quite like the perfect red lipstick - at least in my opinion. And I am in love with the Tansy Fringe Collar and pretty much try and incorporate it into any outfit I can and today was no exception. I think it pairs great with a bold red lip.

Warm Weather is Here!

Easter Sunday is always a special day, not only is it a great time spent with family and friends consuming way too much champagne and chocolate (at least that's how mine always goes) but it is also a day when you can break out those summer dresses that have been hiding in your closet all winter long. This year my family decided to have brunch and hold our own easter egg hunt for all of our family friends and their children. Let me just tell you that hiding eggs in a dress and wedges is a bit of a challenge. But it was oh so worth it to see how much fun all of the kids had running around and collecting eggs.

This Easter I decided to keep it simple with a newly purchased dress and my go to favorite wedges. They are seriously one of my most comfortable pair of shoes.  I have never been one to believe in the whole "no white after labor day" idea. I truly believe that most can pull off a fabulous winter white. I am against white shoes after labor day, but to be completely honest, I am just against white shoes in general.

Of course, I had to complete the look with some of my favorite spring S&D jewels. The Stone Sutton Necklace - Blue/Green has become one of my spring go to necklaces. The versatility of being able to wear it five different ways makes it a perfect pop of color for most of my outfits. And I love all of the different ways I can play around with it until it looks just right. Even my niece Vivienne had to get in on the S&D fun with her new Sparkle & Shine necklace from our girls line. I had been waiting for the perfect occasion to give it to her, and her easter basket fit just that.

All in all, Easter Sunday was exactly what I expected it to be, a fun day spent surrounded by the people I care about the most. What do you wear for special days like these?

Spring is here!

Seriously, the sun is shining and it's warm outside. I cannot even begin to contain my excitement. After spending this past week of spring break inside, I had a couple of cleaning/organizing projects to complete, Friday I was ready to get out of the house. Luckily, I had a nice little stay-cation day planned and a reason to get a little dressed up. And that reason led me to put on my favorite necklace from Stella & Dot's spring collection, the Elodie necklace.

I think the Elodie is the perfect pop of color for spring to add to any outfit. I also added in the Somervell in black for a little extra bling. What was so great about this combo is that I threw them on with a simple maxi dress and blazer and it brought such a simple outfit to life. Do you have any go to pieces for when you need to add to a pop of color?

Sticking with Simplicity

Sometimes, it's the little things that count in life. And today was one of those days when I needed to keep things simple. Don't get me wrong, I love to get all dolled up as much as the next girl but I just haven't been feeling myself the past couple of days. This early onset of high pollen levels has really taken it's toll, and I just did not feel like leaving my bed. But I had an afternoon meeting so I decided to take my time and get dressed as a way of making myself feel better, and it worked! So as I was standing in front of my jewelry, trying to decide what piece to wear (this is a debate that happens in my head a lot) I just wasn't in the statement necklace mood. I didn't feel like making a statement, I just knew I needed to get out of the house and wanted to look cute doing it. That being said, I grabbed two of my favorite Stella & Dot Delicates and layered them with a black and white plaid shirt for a more simple and casual look. For today it was perfect, and that's all that matters.

Springing into Summer

Hello from dreary and cold Atlanta!

I just returned from sunny Florida with a sun burn and needless to say this weather here is really bumming me out. Luckily, I came home to multiple packages from Stella & Dot waiting for me to help cheer me up. Today new March Capsule pieces were released and I can honestly say they are even more beautiful in person.

I am obsessed with these bright blues and greens, probably two of my favorite colors and the detail on both of these pieces are absolutely amazing. I love to pair mine with the Somervell in Gold or the Nancy Studs for some extra sparkle. Because let's be real, when winter seems to be never ending we could all use a little extra sparkle. So let's spring into summer a little early this year with these beautiful new pieces!

Snowpacolypse

Well, I wish I had a fabulous reason for my lack of posting recently. You know, like a tropical vacation or vaccinating children in Africa or something. But instead it has simply been the start of the spring semester and the fact that Atlanta got hit by a crazy snowpacolypse. Clearly these reasons are not nearly as exciting. I have been waiting and waiting for a nice day out where I could throw on all my favorite pieces from Stella & Dot's new Spring '14 line and snap some pictures to share with y'all. Unfortunately, that day has not happened. The weather here in Atlanta has been so insane that we have actually spent days on days trapped indoors. During the snowpacolypse (all 2 inches of it) the traffic was so crazy it took me 4 hours to go 3 miles before I turned around and spent another 2 hours to get home. Needless to say I spent the next few days drinking wine and having a Netflix marathon.

So today, as I am sitting in English class, I decided to snap a quick picture of my #armparty to share with everyone. It is simple but the pop of color is really brightening my mood as I am stuck in this class room (btw, I am slightly obsessed with cobalt blue this spring!).  Pictured below is the Amelie Sparkle Bracelet in Silver ($39) and the Gilded Arrow Bangle in Silver ($39). These are two of my go to favorites, mainly because I love to pair them with my Michele watch, but also because they add some fun to an outfit without sending it over the top. What pieces are your go to's for an #armparty?

Add a Little Sunshine to Winter

Winter can be hard and cold and even a little depressing sometimes, and today I was missing sunshine. After days of gloomy cold weather, I needed to add a little color to my day. This need lead me to the Norah Pendant from Stella & Dot's December Capsule Collection. Not only is it a great piece for Spring, but the pop of yellow really was the little pick me up I needed. Plus I got to mix two of my favorite looks from Winter and Spring, a warm and cozy faux fur vest and a bright and colorful statement necklace.  It's amazing how much wearing a great statement like this can really change a girls day. What is your go to piece when you need a fashion pick me up?

The Sutton Necklace

First of all, I am sorry for my unexpected leave of absence from this blog. I was not expecting the holidays to be so crazy! I blame the fact that Thanksgiving and Christmas were so close togetherand I, of course, put all my shopping off until the last minute. Either way I wanted to get back into the blogging life by telling you about my FAVORITE Stella & Dot piece. This is the piece that not only do I wear the most often but that I also love to mix in with my other jewelry - it just goes with everything. I definitely believe that we all need certain staples in our jewelry wardrobe that are our go to favorites that speak for themselves. Needless to say, the Sutton will definitely be noticed!

This necklace is more than just a two-fer (which I love!) it's actually a four-fer which is even better.  Since there are 4 different ways to wear this necklace it goes with absolutely any outfit I throw together. That is exactly what makes this piece so great, I can wear it long, I can wear it short, I can even detach the bling for a more casual look - it can save almost any outfit.  I'll make sure to post a few of my favorite outfits that go great with the Sutton in the upcoming weeks.
